Tour Plan

Day 1: Arrival in Rwanda, Kigali City Tour and Genocide Memorial Visit
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your Tavira Africa Safaris guide, who will be holding a sign with your name for easy identification.

After a short briefing, you will begin your Kigali city tour, including a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial Site. This important landmark offers deep insight into Rwanda’s history, its tragic past, and its inspiring journey toward unity and reconciliation.

After lunch, continue your journey to Musanze (Ruhengeri), the gateway to Volcanoes National Park. Along the way, you may also visit the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund Center, where you will learn about the life and conservation work of the famous primatologist.

In the evening, check in and relax at your lodge in Ruhengeri as you prepare for the next day’s adventure.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park and Cultural Experience
After an early breakfast, transfer to Volcanoes National Park for your gorilla trekking experience.

At the park headquarters, you will receive a detailed briefing on trekking rules and safety guidelines before heading into the forest with experienced rangers.

Trek through the lush slopes of the Virunga Mountains in search of one of the twelve habituated gorilla families. Once located, you will spend a magical hour observing these gentle giants as they feed, play, and interact in their natural habitat.

After the trek, visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, where you will enjoy traditional Rwandan dance performances and gain deeper insight into local customs, traditions, and community life.

In the evening, return to Classic Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Return to Kigali, Local Market Visit and Departure
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast before checking out and driving back to Kigali.

After lunch, you will be transferred to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your unforgettable Rwanda gorilla trekking tour.
