This 5-day Uganda Gorilla & Wildlife Safari takes you through two of the country’s most iconic destinations, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park, offering an unforgettable blend of primate encounters and classic African safari experiences.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, located in the lush southwestern highlands of Uganda, is home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, making it one of the most important gorilla trekking destinations on the planet. Here, you will have the rare opportunity to trek through dense rainforest and come face-to-face with these gentle giants in their natural habitat.

The journey continues to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s second-largest national park, renowned for its incredible biodiversity, scenic crater lakes, and vast savannah plains. The park is especially famous for its unique tree-climbing lions found in the Ishasha sector, along with elephants, buffaloes, hippos, and numerous bird species.

This carefully designed safari combines thrilling gorilla trekking, exciting game drives, boat cruises, and cultural encounters, giving you a complete and immersive experience of Uganda’s natural beauty and wildlife diversity.

Tour Plan

Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
Your safari begins at 8:00 am with a pick-up from Kampala or Entebbe. You will embark on a scenic drive through Uganda’s beautiful countryside along the Kampala–Masaka–Mbarara–Kabale route, passing rolling hills, roadside markets, and lush green landscapes.Along the way, enjoy a lunch stop at the famous Igongo Cultural Centre, where you can experience Ugandan culture and cuisine. Continue your journey to the southwestern highlands, arriving at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in the evening. Check in and relax at your lodge as you prepare for the exciting gorilla trekking experience the following day. Accommodation: Rushaga Gorilla Camp
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Experience
After an early breakfast, proceed to the park headquarters by 8:00 am for a detailed briefing on gorilla trekking guidelines. You will then be assigned a gorilla family and begin your trek with an experienced Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger.The trek can take between 2 to 5 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas, but the reward is unforgettable. Once located, you will spend one magical hour observing the gorilla family as they feed, play, and interact in their natural habitat. After the trek, return to your lodge for relaxation. In the afternoon, visit the Batwa community to experience their traditional lifestyle, cultural dances, and storytelling. Later, return to Rushaga Gorilla Camp for dinner and overnight stay. Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, check out and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, enjoying scenic views along the way as you descend into the Rift Valley.Upon arrival, check in at Park View Hotel, have lunch, and take some time to relax. In the afternoon, head to the Ishasha sector, famous for its rare tree-climbing lions resting in fig trees. Continue with an evening game drive to spot elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, and other nocturnal wildlife as the sun sets over the savannah. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Day 4: Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise
Begin the day with an early morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains, one of the best wildlife viewing areas in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Look out for lions, elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, and hyenas roaming the savannah.Return to the lodge for lunch and some rest before heading out for a spectacular afternoon boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel. The cruise offers incredible close-up views of hippos, crocodiles, elephants at the shoreline, and a wide variety of waterbirds along the banks. After the cruise, return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay. Accommodation: Park View Hotel
Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking and Return to Kampala
After an early breakfast, head to Kyambura Gorge for an exciting chimpanzee trekking experience. Spend time exploring the forested gorge as you search for chimpanzees and observe their behavior in the wild.The trek lasts approximately 2 to 6 hours depending on their location. After the experience, begin your journey back to Kampala. Arrive in the evening, marking the end of your unforgettable Uganda gorilla and wildlife safari.
