This 8-Day Gorillas, Chimps and Big 5 Game Drives Safari is a carefully designed adventure that showcases the very best of Uganda’s wildlife, primates, and scenic landscapes in one unforgettable journey.

Your experience takes you to Lake Mburo National Park, a compact but rich wildlife destination known for its zebras, impalas, elands, buffaloes, antelopes, and excellent walking safaris and game drives. It offers a perfect introduction to Uganda’s savannah ecosystems.

The journey continues to the legendary Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, where you will trek deep into the rainforest to encounter the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat—one of the most powerful wildlife experiences in the world.

You will also explore Queen Elizabeth National Park, famous for its diverse ecosystems and the rare tree-climbing lions found in the Ishasha sector, alongside elephants, hippos, buffaloes, and abundant birdlife.

Tour Plan

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Your safari begins with a warm pickup from either your hotel or Entebbe International Airport by your professional guide from Tavira Africa Safaris.Start your journey towards Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest and most dramatic wildlife reserve, known for its powerful waterfall and vast savannah landscapes.

En route, stop at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for an exciting guided rhino tracking experience on foot. Continue with a lunch stop at Kabalega Dinners Restaurant before proceeding into the park.

Upon arrival, visit the top of Murchison Falls to witness the Nile forcing itself through a narrow gorge, creating one of the most powerful waterfalls in the world.

Later, check in at Fort Murchison and relax for the evening.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive and Boat Cruise at the Base of the Falls

Start the day with an early morning game drive in the northern sector of Murchison Falls National Park. Look out for lions, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, warthogs, bushbucks, and possibly leopards.Return to the lodge for lunch before heading out for a scenic 3-hour boat cruise along the Nile to the base of Murchison Falls.

Along the way, enjoy close encounters with hippos, Nile crocodiles, and a variety of water birds. The highlight is approaching the thunderous falls from below, offering incredible photography opportunities.

After the cruise, return to Fort Murchison for relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

After an early breakfast, begin your journey to Kibale Forest National Park, Uganda’s primate capital.Enjoy scenic views along the way, passing lush tea plantations, banana farms, and rolling countryside. Stop for photos at a tea plantation before continuing your drive.

Upon arrival, check in at Kibale Forest Camp and relax in the tranquil forest environment.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Early in the morning, head into Kibale Forest for an unforgettable chimpanzee trekking experience. This rainforest is home to the highest concentration of primates in East Africa.During the trek, you may also encounter red colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, and other forest wildlife.

After the experience, continue your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s most diverse safari destinations.

Upon arrival, check in at Kikorongo Safari Lodge and relax for the evening.

Day 5: Morning Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise

Begin your day with a morning game drive across the Kasenyi plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Expect sightings of elephants, buffaloes, lions, Uganda kobs, and other wildlife across the savannah.Return to the lodge for lunch before heading out for a spectacular boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel.

This channel is famous for its dense concentration of hippos, crocodiles, elephants at the shoreline, and abundant birdlife including kingfishers and pelicans.

After the cruise, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi via Ishasha Tree-Climbing Lions

After breakfast, drive through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, famous for its rare tree-climbing lions resting in fig trees.Continue your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas.

Upon arrival, check in at Bweza Gorilla Lodge and relax as you prepare for the highlight of your safari.

Day 7: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After an early breakfast, attend a ranger briefing before entering Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for your gorilla trekking adventure.Trek through dense rainforest in search of a habituated gorilla family. Once located, spend one unforgettable hour observing their behavior, interactions, and daily life in the wild.

After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and then transfer to the serene Lake Bunyonyi, known for its calm waters and scenic terraced hills.

Check in at Heritage Lodge and enjoy a peaceful evening by the lake.

Day 8: Return to Entebbe International Airport

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast overlooking the beautiful hills of Lake Bunyonyi before beginning your journey back to Entebbe.The drive includes scenic stops for lunch in Mbarara and at the Uganda Equator line in Kayabwe for photos and souvenirs.

Continue to Entebbe International Airport for your outbound flight, marking the end of your incredible 8-day Uganda safari with Tavira Africa Safaris.
